“Home is where the heart is”
Use of Innovative media and tools
Need:
The challenge was to create a design using innovative media.
"Home is where the Heart is," an article published in Paintball Access.com, influenced this design. The article describes Marcello Margott's return to his first professional paintball team, The L.A. Ironmen, and shares his reasons for rejoining the team.
This article provoked me to reflect on my own personal relationship with paintball and how it has become a piece of my heart. Marcello’s journey inspired me to create this visual design illustrating the passion I have for paintball and the use of paintball equipment as a visual medium.
Design Solution:
This design was created from various media and the use of a paintball marker. First I designed a stencil, then traced it onto a thick sheet of brown paper. Next, I loaded my paintball marker with red paintballs and shot them onto the paper. To help prevent the paintballs from puncturing through the paper, I secured the paper onto a wooden board.
Outcome:
The finished design is unique and eye catching. Specifically, the splattered paintballs create various textures and shades, while not negatively impacting the brown paper. The result is a memorable design showcasing the use of a paintball marker and the love for paintball.
